Dragon Art Public Domain

I am really keen on not using AI art for my Dungeons and Dragons products. However, I am not an artist, by any stretch of the imagination. I still want to be able to include compelling art but most of my projects are PWYW and offered for free. As such, I can't always justify custom art. So, I have been scouring the public domain archives to find suitable pictures.

All of these images were gathered from the website Old Book Illustrations (https://www.oldbookillustrations.com/) which pulls images from books that are no longer copyrighted and are in the public domain. I have since used photo editing software (like https://www.photopea.com/) to make minor modifications to the images. This might include isolating a specific part of the image or cleaning it up a bit.

All of the images in this download involve dragons that I found while I was researching resources for my own projects.

Feel free to download the resources for free and use for your own projects. There is no need to cite them. If you do, however, please consider including the original citation from Old Book Illustrations as well as mentioning that modifications were made by Eric Proctor.

The list below provides a brief description of each of the images available in the ZIP file. I have also included the original reference to the Old Book Illustration catalog entry in case you want to see the original information about the picture, including the book and captions.
