Cider Mill Chaos

DESCRIPTION: The party is getting ready to settle down for the night in a local town when they suddenly hear unusual noises. An investigation leads them to a group of blobs attacking the local cider mill. Will the party be able to help the owners of the mill deal with the blobs before they cause too much damage to the business? 

This encounter is intended for low level players. In fact, it could be the first encounter they face, and could work for the typical D&D trope: meeting in a tavern!

BACKGROUND: This encounter was created for one of the campaigns for which I am a DM. We are running Dragon Town and the Darkness Below, a recently completed, successful Kickstarter project from J.P. Coovert. The original Dragon Town campaign is system neutral and rules light. I created the files available here to adapt it for my 5e Dungeons and Dragons campaign. I have also written it to be a stand alone one-shot that can be added to any town in any 5e fantasy campaign.

J.P. Coovert has been such an inspiration for my own work and it has been an absolute pleasure to run this campaign. Definitely go check out his work!

• Cider Mill Chaos PDF: The full, multi-page PDF of the encounter. You can run it with just this document. All the rest is bonus fluff!
• Cider Mill Maps: The map comes in both full color and grayscale versions. But that's not all! I have created tiled versions that can be printed on letter sized paper and assembled into a full size map for in-person, tabletop play. 
• Monster Stat Blocks: The 2024 version of stat blocks for any new monsters created for this encounter. Do you use Improved Initiative during your session? Well I even include a JSON file to easily import the monsters into your initiative tracker! I've also throw in a Markdown version, if you prefer that.
